Vaccines

Required Vaccines :

Some vaccines are required for permission to enter certain countries.

To go to Mecca you need only Yellow Fever and Meingococcal vaccinations.

Cholera vaccine can occasionally be required by the authorities in certain countries.

These compulsory vaccines are quite inadequate for the total protection of the traveller and they must be complemented by other vaccines that are just as important and recommended. In all cases medical consultation at a clinic that is authorized to administer international vaccines is necessary.

The Centre santé-voyage de Québec is such a authorized clinique, registered for administration of Yellow Fever vaccine as well as others, compulsory or optional.

Necessary Vaccines :

These are compulsory vaccines given in childhood for which boosters are recommended in adulthood. Examples are tetanus and poliomyelitis vaccines.

Vaccine recommendations vary according to traveller and destination / type of trip:

Typhoid, hepatitis A and B, meningococcal meningitisA and C.

Vaccine and boosters are recommended for diptheria whose incidence is again on the upswing in some parts of the world.

Certain other vaccines such as(Japanese encephalitis , oral cholera, rabies, influenza, pneumonia, etc.) are also available if required.
